Got a problem with your equipment? Before calling us, consider these: |
Unit will not power up. |
Check power cord, AC/DC switch, Fuse on circuit |
Advance display button does not work |
Membrane switch is bad |
Auto zero does not work |
Transducer has pressure on it, membrane switch is bad |
Unit does not give application or release times |
No transducer is hooked to #3 tractor drive, or foot switch cable is not hooked up |
Unit does not give release times |
Transducer is not reaching 95 psi- insufficient air source, or display mode button not set on automatic or release only |
Unit will not give application times |
Display mode button is not set on automatic or application only. |
DOWN light stays on without doing test |
Indicates a potential bad transducer, cable, or inadequate pressures to run test |

MINI-TRACTOR CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS
These instructions are written only to serve as instructions. If at any time you are experiencing problems or concerns associated with your mini-tractor, please call 800-444-3216 and ask for Jim Jenkins.
Your mini tractor must have a consistent air supply going to it. We would recommend at least 110 psi at the back of the mini tractor. The mini tractor must be set at 100 psi. This figure is set forth by N.H.S.T.A., and the D.O.T.
To verify that the machine is set at 100 psi, hook up the 50 cubic inch tank to the blue coiled airline. Install a transducer in the 50 cubic inch tank and run a cable from the transducer to the #3 channel on the suitcase ( for MT-300 or MT-600 users), or on display panel for MT-400. At this time, also install the foot switch cable from the back of the lower cabinet to the foot pedal connector on the panel of MT-400 or in the suitcase.
Turn on the suitcase and the base cabinet. Push the “RED” button to apply the air. Hold this button down while
you are doing this test. The digital display on Channel #3 has to say “100”. If not, you must adjust the regulator (inside the base cabinet, against the back of the cabinet). If you turn it clockwise, it increases the pressure, while a counter clockwise movement will decrease the pressure.
After doing this, you are ready to verify that the mini tractor is capable of increasing the pressure in the 50 cubic inch tank from 0-60 psi in the 0.350 seconds. You must push the display mode button on the suitcase one time. It will light up timing and automatic on the display.
Push the button to start the mini tractor, and it will apply the air. If the reading does not say 0.350, you have to adjust a knob on the variable orifice inside the cabinet. Counter clockwise speeds up the airflow. Clockwise slows the airflow. If at any time you do not get a release time, you will have to adjust a pressure switch inside the mini tractor. This switch controls when the mini tractor releases the brakes, by opening when it gets to the set point at which the switch is set. It does this by cutting the power
to a 12V D.C. solenoid.
If the transducer does not read 95 psi, and the ready down light does not come on, you will not get a release time. Again, we do this because N.H.T.S.A. and the D.O.T., specify that it must release and read the same time from 95 psi down to 5 psi. If the switch senses 95 psi in the airline before the transducer “sees” 95 psi, the ready down light will not come on and you will not get a release time.
When you get a release time with the 50 cubic inch tank, Channel #3 should read 0.700. If it is not, you will have to adjust another variable orifice. Counter clockwise rotation of this knob speeds up the air flow and time, while clockwise slows down the air flow and time.
When you test application and release times on your trailer, depending on how the air system is plumbed or valved, you might have to adjust the pressure switch inside the mini tractor again. This is caused by the switch, “seeing” 95 psi, before the transducer at the back of the trailer gets to 95 psi. If this happens again, you will not get a release time and the ready down light will not
come on. |
